Words by curator: Hans Manner-Jacobsen, Photographic Centre, Copenhagen, 2001

Being the first original artist produced dvd in Denmark. ”Africa in Copenhagen” builds on the digital media’s global nature – any taken photograph can instantly be viewed anywhere in the world.

In “Africa in Copenhagen” the artist gently deconstructs the scenery in a Buster Keaton manner. By entering the stage, he breaks the illusion of perspective, as the illusion of the motionless (still photograph). The artist exploits the dvd´s ability to repeat with no rewind. The digital loop.

For første gang var det muligt at lave et video loop uden rewind og uden synlige klip. Videoen spillde 24 timer/døgnet i 6 uger. Der var kun et sted man kunne producere dvd i København og det kostede en mindre formue.
